LB MACRO was founded in 2018 to provide high-quality, independent economic
advise to major institutions in a rapidly changing financial environment.
Founder & CEO
Luigi Buttiglione has a unique background, with experience spanning from academia to central banking, investment banking and hedge funds.
Before founding LB MACRO in 2018, Luigi was a Partner and Head of Global Strategy at Brevan Howard Asset Management (2008-2017), Fortress Investment Group (2007-2008), Rubicon Fund Management (2004-2007), BlueCrest Asset Management (2003), Head of European and Global Economics at Barclays Capital (2001-2003).
Before his career in financial markets, Luigi was a Senior Economist at the Research Department of Banca d'Italia, in the Monetary Analysis, the Real Economy and the Forecasting divisions. While at Banca d'Italia, Luigi advised the Governor on monetary policy, actively managed the public debt of the Italian Republic, was a member of the Banca d'Italia Forecasting Committee and the ECB Working Group of Forecasting.
Luigi was also a Professor at the Universities of Milan and Bologna, as well as the author of several academic papers in monetary and international economics.
